Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 19, 2026 — Last Updated: May 19, 2026
Jug Scope ("the App") is developed and operated by Airworthy Labs LLC ("we," "us," "our"). This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you use the App and this website.
Data We Collect
1. Account Information (Sign In with Apple)
When you create an account, Apple provides:
- Name — used to personalize your account
- Email address — used for account communications and, if you opt in, marketing emails (see Marketing section below). You may use Apple's Hide My Email to share a relay address instead.
2. User Identifiers
The App assigns two identifiers to your account:
- CloudKit User Record ID — Apple's opaque identifier linking your data to your iCloud account. Never shared externally.
- Per-install user hash (e.g.,
a1b2c3d4e5f6…) — a one-way hash used to identify your diagnostic log uploads on our server. Not linked to your name or email.
3. Aircraft and Inspection Data (iCloud / CloudKit)
The App stores the following in your private iCloud container via Apple CloudKit:
- Aircraft profiles: tail number (N-number), engine model, cylinder count
- Inspection records: date, aircraft, completion status
- Annotations and findings notes attached to individual images
- Inspection metadata and history
This data lives in your iCloud account under Apple's infrastructure. Airworthy Labs does not access your individual inspection records. Apple manages this data under Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Photos and Videos (Borescope Images)
Borescope images you capture are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud container. Images are never uploaded to Airworthy Labs servers. When you choose to upload to Savvy Aviation, images are transmitted directly to Savvy's servers. Savvy Aviation's handling of that data is governed by Savvy Aviation's Privacy Policy.
5. Precise Location
If you grant Jug Scope "When In Use" location permission, the App embeds GPS coordinates into the EXIF metadata of each borescope image you capture. This records where each inspection was performed. Location data lives only in the EXIF of the image on your device — it is not separately stored in CloudKit or transmitted to Airworthy Labs servers. You can disable location embedding at any time by revoking location permission in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Jug Scope.
6. In-App Purchases (StoreKit)
When you purchase a subscription or credits, Apple processes the payment. We receive a StoreKit receipt to verify your entitlement. We do not store your payment card information. Purchase history is maintained by Apple and accessible via your App Store account settings.
We use aggregate purchase data (subscription tier, lapse status) to segment marketing communications — for example, to send a welcome email when you upgrade to Pro, or a win-back offer if your subscription lapses. Individual purchase amounts and payment details are never used for this purpose.
7. Usage and Product Interaction Data
The App records AnalyticsEvent records in CloudKit to help us understand feature usage: inspection completion rates, camera connection success rates, and export format preferences. These records are linked to your CloudKit user ID and are not shared externally or sold.
We may use aggregate usage patterns to segment marketing communications — for example, to send a re-engagement email if the App detects you have not completed an inspection in a long time. You can opt out of these emails via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
8. Crash Data and Diagnostic Logs (Opt-In)
The App includes a "Send Diagnostic Report" feature. When you use this feature, the App uploads a diagnostic log file to our secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2). Logs are identified by your per-install user hash and include:
- Camera connection events and errors
- App lifecycle events and crash recovery data
- WiFi discovery timing and protocol data
- Connection state and error codes
Diagnostic logs do not include your inspection images, borescope video, aircraft tail numbers, or your name or email address. Logs are retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted. You can preview the log contents before sending.
This feature is fully opt-in. No logs are uploaded without your explicit action.
Marketing Communications
We use your email address to send operational communications (TestFlight build availability, critical app notices) and, where you have consented or where applicable law permits, marketing communications such as release announcements, feature updates, and beta program updates.
Marketing uses of your data include:
- Email address — release announcements, feature updates, beta program updates
- Purchase data — to send contextual emails (welcome to Pro, subscription renewal reminders, lapsed-subscription win-back offers)
- Usage patterns — to send re-engagement emails based on in-app activity
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link in compliance with CAN-SPAM. EU/UK users may also exercise opt-out rights under GDPR/UK GDPR by contacting [email protected].
